Erah’s “The Row” Is a Poetic Reminder To Keep Going

Erah’s newest single, The Row is a poetic reminder to always show up for yourself.

After some time away — that couldn’t have gone by fast enough for us Erah fans out here — the poet blessed us with an Oct. 25 release, that was totally worth the wait.

In simple words, it’s beautiful.

“The Row” doesn’t deny the uncertainty of life, instead, Erah leans into this truth. Acting as a big sister and friend, reminding us of our power to weather any storm.

With this piece Erah is able to transport you, with her decisive lyricism and a production that shifts the atmosphere around you. It’s as if for those two minutes the noise of your life fades and you can find a moment to reset.

Though “The Row” feels like the incarnation of those times you look yourself in the mirror reciting words of affirmation and locker room speeches, it also sounds as if Erah is talking to herself just as much as she’s talking to you.

When I spoke with Erah this summer while she was working on the single, I asked: What inspired you to write this piece, “The Row”?

Erah: “The Row” the title comes from my thing that I’ve been saying for a while which is, “keep rowing”. And that’s what I kept telling myself when I was going through everything that I was going through. Whether it was my grief, whether it was depression, whether it’s the little moment that I had where my health wasn’t the best. I kept telling people that I felt like my head was under water but then at the same time I’m like “I have to keep rowing”.

For Erah, this rowing pilgrimage is “the journey towards the land of milk and honey”. In other words, it’s the commitment to keep going knowing that better is not far away. “It’s a clear depiction of that in between,” said Erah.

This poetic work falls nothing short of the perfect backing track to that rowing journey. The “in between” moment of what you’ve left behind and where you’re brave enough to go.

So, whether it’s still waters or rushing waves, just keep rowing. Stream “The Row” HERE.
