“Get in, we’re going to 613RnB!”

Picture this: You get the text from one of your girls telling you that it’s almost time for the ultimate RnB party. You’re already a huge fan of the genre, so you plan accordingly… Makeup, hair, outfit – everything needs to be on point. The night of the event arrives and you’re pre-drinking at your girlfriends’ house, taking shots and blasting Summer Walker’s “over it” in anticipation for the night. It’s time to leave; the uber is outside. You arrive at club SAW and the vibes are everything you imagined – people are singing, dancing, drinking, mingling and the energy in the room feels completely in sync. You’re screaming love songs with your homegirls and living your best life. Mission accomplished!

The story might be hypothetical, but this is the exact feeling we got from “Track 5: Too Little Too Late”, the latest instalment of 613RnB’s beloved series – easily one of the city’s most sought-after RnB experiences. And of course, Freegxrl Media had to pop out and peep the vibes.

As soon as we stepped into the function, the vibes were evident - and contagious, to say the least. The dance floor? Packed. People were taking shots at the bar, and everyone looked incredible. The dress code was “grown and sexy” and the crowd definitely understood the assignment.

The vibes? Undeniable.

613RnB has cemented itself as the nation’s capital’s premier RnB experience - championing black culture, music and community. “Too little, too late” was the name of the event collective’s latest installation, which almost felt like an ode to the chaos of relationships and the unpredictable nature of love itself. The night played out like a journey through someone’s messy relationship, and we all had a front-row seat.

Resident hosts, Lonely Boy and Jessie Simmons did an incredible job at guiding us through the chapters of this unrequited story – the night was separated into 4 playlists: “Fun & Games”, Good til’ it’s not”, “Bad Intentions” and lastly, “In The Streets” (which, personally, was our favourite). Lonely Boy wasted no time when it came to serenading some of the ladies in the crowd, and Jessie gave roses to all the baddies in the room. Guests were also invited on stage to dance alongside the hosts; a signature 613RnB touch that always keeps the energy interactive and alive.

For the broken-hearted, the designated crashout segment which featured songs by the likes of Glorilla and Cardi B, gave a chance for folks to release their feelings in true RnB fashion – dramatic, loud and real.

On the decks, DJ Xannie worked seamlessly alongside Lonely Boy and Jessie, keeping the energy high all night. And when we say the vibes were contagious, we mean it - because the moment “Outside” by Cardi B came on during the “In The Streets” segment, the entire room lost it. Suddenly, everyone was screaming like they didn’t have a man waiting for them at home. And honestly? That’s exactly what a good night out should feel like.

Of course, in true 613RnB fashion, the event had its signature touches. During the first half of the night, we were graced with a stunning performance by Alador – a professional violinist based between Ottawa and Toronto – who added an unforgettable layer of elegance to the evening. Local photobooth vendors, Booth & Style, proudly sponsored the event, and the rose wall photo booth (a 613RnB staple) once again proved to be a fan favourite, giving guests a chance to take home tangible memories from the night.

More than just a party… But an experience.

As the night progressed, the energy in the room only grew stronger. The event had evolved into something that felt less like a party and more like a full-blown concert experience. Between the crowd participation, storytelling, and the undeniable chemistry between the hosts and DJ – it became a collective moment that blended performance, community and the love for RnB music.

Beyond the sexiness and raw emotion of it all, the night was intimate, and, above all, fun. The entire city came out to support 613RnB and it was honestly beautiful to witness. The event collective has truly outdone themselves this time around – and they keep reaching new heights.

One thing about 613RnB: they get it. They understand what’s been missing from most events these days - Real connection and intentional curation. Let’s be honest, plenty of people can throw a party, but only a few can manufacture a feeling you take home with you.

613RnB captures the essence of the genre, and gives us a reason to show up every single time. Their commitment to the culture is evident, and that’s exactly why you’ll catch us front and center for Track 6. If “Too Little, Too Late” proved anything, it’s that Ottawa’s RnB scene is alive, evolving and in great hands.
